7ff83d46aa Allow pseudo post types attachment:audio and attachment:video to get the media modal on Edit Media when they support featured images. 
Introduces `post_supports_thumbnails( $post )` and `theme_supports_thumbnails( $post )` to cut down on duplicated code everytime this needs to be checked. There will be more cases forthcoming.

11c3695c77 Dev/build tools: Use grunt-autoprefixer for CSS vendor prefixes. 
We'll be using it for two distinct tasks:
 * Core CSS files will keep prefixes. `grunt autoprefixer:core` will update files directly in src/ as a pre-commit step, rather than doing it on build.
 * Color CSS files will receive prefixes when they are built.

This commit:
 * Adds prefixes we were missing to core CSS.
 * Removes prefixes that we no longer need from core CSS.
 * Removes all prefixes from colors CSS.

03dda3b273 Introduce maybe_regenerate_attachment_metadata( $attachment ). On the Edit Media screen, call it for Audio and Video files. 
The functions checks if the item is lacking metadata altogether. If a video or audio file was uploaded prior to 3.6, it does not have any metadata. This tries to fix it. Implements locking via a transient to protect against this running in parallel with another request.

This is the minimum viable product for #26825, but leaving the ticket open unless this function needs to be called in other places.

0100dd772a Merge colors.css into wp-admin.css. Non-default color schemes became overloads rather than swaps in the 3.8 redesign. Benefits include: 
* No more border-width, border-style, border-color insanity.
* Point releases are much less likely to require extra finagling to avoid rebuilding the color schemes.
* Yours truly has a better overall vision of ~14,000 lines of admin CSS and where we go from here.

1,065 net lines of red, y'all.

864ab9ae56 Autosave: 
- Move the 'Saving post' and 'Draft saved at...' strings from autosaveL10n to postL10n as they are used only there.
- Use the custom jQuery events 'before-autosave' and 'after-autosave' to show these messages.
- Separate autosave.suspend() for local and server so local autosaves can continue while server autosaves are suspended.
- Remove the recently added autosave.server.disable() and use autosave.server.suspend() instead.
- Bring back .button.disabled, button-primary.disabled and use .disabled to prevent multiple form submissions.

7b3910917d About screen: Only show the pick-a-color section if there are 2 or more of the eight new color schemes available. And only show the eight core schemes. 
This hides the section in develop.svn /src's directory (use /build for colors) and when a plugin is manipulating/unregistering colors. In both situations, which are rare, losing the section is fine.

This removes a fallback image as we were previously showing the section in these cases; the rest of the page shows off the design (and color opportunities) well enough on its own to avoid this confusing section.

68b7f94042 A small adjustment to the page background color per yesterday's conversation with nacin, from #eee to #f3f3f3. This retains enough contrast with white widget containers while making for a more comfortable reading experiences on pages that heavily use the default background color, like the About page. A few adjustments to go along with it: 
- Horizontal rules on the About page are lighter, to match their previous level of contrast with #eee
- Eliminated the .flush-top class on <hr>s on the About page since we want the styles applied to all About page <hr>s.
- Color schemes should match the bottom border of active tabs to the scheme's body-background variable.
- Lighten the comment background color on the Dashboard activity widget to keep adequate contrast with the new lighter body background.

df48cebeb4 No-JavaScript and no-Customizer support for the new Themes screen. 
JavaScript is rarely disabled, but graceful degradation is still important. For example, syntax errors can occur, usually with major WP updates that overhaul entire experiences and update external libraries combined with themes or plugins doing weird or old things. If this error is due to their current theme, a user needs to be able to access the themes screen to switch away from the theme. A more subtle issue could make things painful to diagnose.

This commit renders the grid in PHP (the template is duplicated, but it lightweight, fairly mundane, and easy to sync). On Backbone render, the grid is then re-rendered from JavaScript so searches can occur. Customize and Live Preview is disabled if JS fails to kick in. If JS is disabled, old-school "Preview" links are displayed.

No-Customizer support: The customizer is only supported when the browser supports postMessage (IE8+), and if the frontend is a different domain, CORS (IE10+). We use the .hide-if-no-customize class for this. Pre-customize "Preview" links should use .hide-if-customize.

The .load-customize class should be used to declare a link that opens the customizer. This enables customize-loader.js to intercept this link and load the customizer on top of the current window, making for a smoother experience.

8b8c8e96e7 Deactivate MP6 on update to 3.8. 
If left on, it introduces a lot of weird issues not easily diagnosed. MP6 will be updated before release to prevent itself from functioning 3.8+, but this will cut down on support requests by people who update core but not MP6, which was a fairly popular plugin.

9b29ad0529 Allow for Dashicons and base64-encoded data:image/svg+xml URIs when specifying menu icons. 
Both of these icons can be colored to match the color scheme, including hover states.
Both are accepted for register_post_type()'s menu_icon argument, and also add_menu_page()'s $icon_url argument.

To use a Dashicon, pass the name of the helper class, e.g. 'dashicons-piechart'.
To use an SVG, pass a valid data URI string starting with 'data:image/svg+xml;base64,'.

9be4bd5720 Rename the new custom-background arguments passed to add_theme_support(). 
* background-position becomes default-position-x
 * background-attachment becomes default-attachment
 * background-repeat becomes default-repeat

These are in line with existing default-image and default-color arguments, and also makes the position argument unambiguous and forwards compatible.

1a8b4dfced Themes: Add a clearing <br/> to the end of .theme-browser. 
This is needed to cause the browser to render .theme-browser's height as it's true height, previously the reported height was 1*.theme which caused the Theme scroller to kick in immediately (as the threshold was less than 0).

f46e743343 Widgets: drop onto closed sidebars. 
- Make dropping a widget easier by preventing the source sidebar from resizing while the widget is being dragged.
- Move widgets dropped on closed sidebars to the top. UI Sortable places them randomly near the bottom.
- Fix possible regression in wp_list_widget_controls(), add an optional argument to output the sidebar name inside the sortable container.
- Updated styles for sidebar description and widget-hover class.

e54ee86aaa Make the responsive layout behave better when the user zooms the page: 
* Change the smartphone media query from 480 to 600px so it captures large screen phones in landscape mode.
* Set #wpadminbar to position: absolute at smartphone sizes so it scrolls with the page, freeing up the viewport.
* Remove the transition states on #adminmenu for better performance on mobile devices
* Make the responsive sidebar scroll with the page instead of using a fixed position
* Remove the -webkit-overflow-scrolling rule that was disabling scroll-to-top when tapping the iOS status bar.
* Remove unnecessary zoom declaration from -ms-viewport.

c944323a4f Widgets: 
- Don't deactivate "draggable" on the widget when the chooser is open. Makes it possible to still drag the "widget-in-question".
- Change the chooser's HTML id to a class to avoid collisions when cloning.

1aa122be5e Widgets: 
- Prevent dragging of the widget-in-question when the chooser is open.
- Don't show more than one spinner when saving widgets positions.
- Disable selecting of text in the widget title. Prevents selecting/highlighting most of the screen when dragging on slower devices.

5d5114daf9 Bring the install/update screens in line with the new admin design. This affects:

What's changed:

* Bring background/text/link/border colours in line with mp6
* Bring fonts in line with mp6 (see note below)
* Switch to device-width for the viewport and tweak margins etc so the layout works nicely on all device sizes
* Switch to the new vector WordPress logo in the header to match the log in screen
* Force table cells into rows in the <782px media query

f26fea70c5 Making improvements to new styles added in the MP6 merge, and addressing visual feedback from core team. 
Improved and more consistent styling on the widgets & menus pages:

* Use the same visual treatment for both widgets and menus.
* Re-use existing styles from input:focus for draggable elements.
* Use the standard H3 size for widget area titles.
* Re-style the Widgets page drop zone to match drop zone from dashboard.
* Replace the gear icon on Widgets with the standard open/close arrows.
* Remove "Choose a sidebar" header from widget area chooser.

Make open/close arrows more consistent:

* Use the same arrow direction everywhere: pointing down when its container is closed, pointing up when open (following the Dashboard example).
* Set a consistent color for open/close arrows.
* Add a hover color for open/close arrows.
* Make open/close arrows permanently visible; :hover states don't exist on touch.

Make typography and color more consistent:

* Switch all declarations of #dedede to #ddd for simplicity's sake.
* Make H3s the same weight and color as H2s.
* Make select elements the same color as text inputs.
* Make paragraph text #444 so it doesn't look washed out on grey backgrounds.

General improvements:

* Eliminate the border between rows in settings tables.
* Make text and buttons line up in the Customizer.

4f08cf2efa Dash cleanup. 
* Use wp_add_dashboard_widget() rather than add_meta_box().
 * Use original functions like wp_dashboard_primary(), wp_dashboard_right_now(), wp_dashboard_quick_press() (where possible).
 * Only include plugins section of the news widget when appropriate, which necessitates the set_current_screen() via the ajax action.
 * Remove some debug cruft that was preventing caching and invalidation.
 * Simplify lots of things where possible.
