725e0cc1df Remove $wp_secret_key_default. 
With the duplicate key checks, this is isn't necessary. It could also cause problems when you
temporarily update to an English translation of a new version before going back to the locale.

886ee992be Replace commas with periods when converting ratings float values to strings, to avoid issues with localized decimal points. 
In these cases, we want a period because it is going to be used by CSS.

c22a2e2d7a Allow nooped plurals to receive a textdomain on registration to then be used on translation. 
This is good for when the code registering the plural is not also translating it. This occurs
in core with register_post_status(), which accepts a nooped plural as an argument, and then
calls translate_nooped_plural() without a domain.

translate_nooped_plural() can still be called with a domain. The argument will just be overridden
if the nooped plural contains a domain key.

2f2cb0926f Theme Customizer: Migrate to an ajax-based solution for refreshing the preview and saving. see #20507, #19910. 
* Use ajax-based saving, add saving indicator.
* Use ajax-based refreshing instead of form targets.
* Instead of using hidden inputs with prefixed names to track the canonical data, use the values stored in wp.customize. Encode the values as JSON before sending to avoid bugs with ids that contain square brackets (PHP mangles POST values with nested brackets).
* Use wp.customize.Previewer solely for the purpose of previewing; move the postMessage connection with the parent frame and other unrelated code snippets into the 'ready' handler.

f4fc857b9c Clean up the XML-RPC 3.4 methods with regards to consistency and future compatibility. 
* Limit returned taxonomy and post type objects to a specific type-cast whitelist of fields.
 * Add $filter and $fields to wp.getTaxonomies to match the functionality of wp.getPostTypes.
 * Prevent the post type from being chnaged in _insert_post().
 * Don't check post_type_supports() in _insert_post().
 * Align handling of sticky posts with those of core.
 * Force tags and categories to go through terms and terms_names, rather than tags_input and post_category.

d2fbbd1649 XML-RPC featured image and media preparation cleanup. 
* Introduce _prepare_media_item().
* Use it to prepare post_thumbnail info in _prepare_post().
* Also use _prepare_media_item() in wp_getMediaLibrary() and wp_getMediaItem() so that all media is prepared consistently and uses the same filters.

f9ac486930 Theme Customizer: Preview the target theme during save to ensure all settings are properly registered. Temporarily revert to the active theme when running switch_theme. fixes #20508, see #19910. 
Introduces WP_Customize->start_previewing_theme() and WP_Customize->stop_previewing_theme() to easily enable/disable the theme filters as needed.

1e76fdfb4b Accept a post object in clean_post_cache(). Fixes #20486. 
The post_type can then be accessed to properly clean the taxonomy relationships cache.
The full object is useful in situations when an ID might reference a post that has been
removed from the database (e.g. wp_delete_post()).

6d13f920fd Add $id parameter to get_the_tag_list() for consistency with get_the_(category|term)_list(). Props kawauso. Fixes #20072. 
Also remove 'default' value of 0 for $id parameter in generic taxonomy functions
as it is a required parameter, and fix a notice when get_the_terms() is called
when $id = 0 and the $post global is not an object.

Overhauled image pickers:
* Add support for drag and drop uploads to image controls.
* Improve the 'uploaded' tab in image controls: automatically add images uploaded during the current session, hide the tab when no uploaded images exist.
* Move the header image control to the WP_Customize_Header_Image_Control class. Remove wp_customize_print_uploaded_headers() and wp_customize_print_uploaded_headers() functions.
* Abstract the dropdown functionality from the color picker to the .dropdown class.
* In wp.Uploader, unset element keys if passed an empty jQuery collection.

9df0620d89 Move to admin.php?customize=on&theme=$stylesheet, rather than juggling both template and stylesheet values. see #19910. 
Combine the setup_theme() and customize_previewing() methods. Remove the set_template() and set_stylesheet() methods. Add set_theme() method to WP_Customize to store the working WP_Theme object. We will use this for the stylesheet and template.

Use the WP_Theme display() method when preparing headers for display, not get() or the deprecate properties.

aab399efbc Theme Customizer: Stick to wp_customize_url() instead of wp_customize_href(). Switch argument order so it is stylesheet-template. (Template is hypothetically optional, but the function will not support that.) see #19910.

a831898020 When fetching the user in get_currentuserinfo(), make sure it is a valid WP_User object. If it is stdClass, upgrade it to WP_User. If it is WP_Error, an int, or anything else, set the current user to ID 0. 
In wp_set_current_user(), return the current user global only if it is a WP_User object. If it is not, fall through and go about setting it up properly.

Formatting cleanups for both functions.

79f8b89fbc Theme Customizer: Move upload and image controls to subclasses. see #19910. 
Instead of grouping together every control parameter into a single  array and passing them all to the JS, use subclasses with custom parameters to implement additional PHP functionality and the  parameter to send only the necessary variables to the JavaScript control.

Replaces WP_Customize_Control->control_params with WP_Customize_Control->json and WP_Customize_Control->to_json(). The to_json() method refreshes the json array passed to the JavaScript control (set to control.param by default).

Creates WP_Customize_Upload_Control and WP_Customize_Image_Control.

5b8037afe6 Always set WP_Theme->template even when there is an error and we have no idea what the template is. (Assume it is the stylesheet.) Prevents a number of issues including WP_Theme->is_child_theme() lying. Tidy the theme editor for broken themes and themes with no templates (PHP files), or no template (parent), or are broken. Allow broken themes to be edited. see #20103.

bb4cca4c55 Introduce WP_Theme->exists() to check if the queried theme actually exists. WP_Theme->exists() is a subset of errors() -- a theme with errors may still exist, but a theme that does not exist has an error of theme_not_found. wp_get_theme() now returns false if the theme does not exist. Improve scandir() and get_files() logic. see #20103.

30d798ec8d Create WP_Customize_Control to separate the process of rendering a control from fetching, previewing, and saving its values. see #19910. 
Many-to-many mapping between settings and controls.
* Settings and controls have been separated in both the PHP (WP_Customize_Setting, WP_Customize_Control) and the JS (wp.customize.Setting, wp.customize.Control).
* While most settings are tied to a single control, some require multiple controls. The 'header_textcolor' control is a good example: to hide the header text, header_textcolor is set to 'blank'.

Add 'Display Header Text' control.

A handful of miscellaneous bugfixes along the way.

Notes:
* Controls should be separated out a bit more; juggling type-specific arguments in the switch statement is rather inelegant.
* Page dropdowns are currently inactive and need to be re-linked.

While the customize_render_control- action has been removed, we could still accomplish this with the customize_render_setting action. That said, in this case, avoiding native integration was a matter of minor semantics that ended in the same result.

Custom header: Use add_theme_support('custom-header', $args) instead of add_custom_image_header(). Deprecates all use of constants.
 * HEADER_TEXTCOLOR is now (string) 'default-text-color'.
 * NO_HEADER_TEXT is nowi ! (bool) 'header-text'.
 * HEADER_IMAGE_WIDTH (and _HEIGHT) are now (int) 'width' and 'height'.
 * HEADER_IMAGE is now (string) 'default-image'.
 * The 3.4 arguments 'suggested-width' and 'suggested-height' are now just 'width' and 'height' (they are "suggested" when flex-width and flex-height are set).
 * Callback arguments for add_custom_image_header() can now be passed to add_theme_support().

Custom background: Use add_theme_support('custom-background, $args) instead of add_custom_background(). Deprecates all use of constants.
 * BACKGROUND_COLOR is now (string) 'default-color'.
 * BACKGROUND_IMAGE is now (string) 'default-image'.
 * Callback arguments for add_custom_background() can now be passed to add_theme_support().

Inheritance: add_theme_support() arguments for custom headers and custom backgrounds is a first-one-wins situation. This is not an unusual paradigm for theming as a child theme (which is included first) overrides a parent theme.
 * Once an argument is explicitly set, it cannot be overridden. You must hook in earlier and set it first.
 * Any argument that is not explicitly set before WP is loaded will inherit the default value for that argument.
 * It is therefore possible for a child theme to pass minimal arguments as long as the parent theme specifies others that may be necessary.
 * Allows for a child theme to alter callbacks for <head> and preview (previously, calling add_custom_image_header more than once broke things).
 * The just-in-time bits ensure that arguments fall back to default values, that the values of all constants are considered (such as one defined after an old add_custom_image_header call), and that all constants are defined (so as to be backwards compatible).

get_theme_support(): Introduce new second argument, which headers and backgrounds leverage to return an argument. current_theme_supports() already supported checking the truthiness of the argument.
 * For example, get_theme_support( 'custom-header', 'width' ) will return the width specified during registration.
 * If you had wanted the default image, use get_theme_support( 'custom-header', 'default-image' ) instead of HEADER_IMAGE. 

Deprecate remove_custom_image_header(), remove_custom_background(). Use remove_theme_support('custom-header'), 'custom-background'.

Deprecate short-lived custom-header-uploads internal support; this is now (bool) 'uploads' for add_theme_support().

New 3.4 functions renamed or removed: Rename get_current_header_data() to get_custom_header(). Remove get_header_image_width() and _height() in favor of get_custom_header()->width and height.

962fae26f4 Updates to WP_Theme, wp_get_themes(), and related deprecated functions, after [UT570] [UT578] [UT579]. see #20103. 
* ['Template Files'] and ['Stylesheet Files'] need to return files from the parent theme as well.
 * Don't strip links from the Author header. Some themes rely on the previous behavior, such as to link multiple authors (Sandbox, for example.) Don't restore links to the Name, that's just a bad idea.
 * Ensure we are always passing around arrays in get_files/scandir.
 * Better inline doc for wp_get_themes() arguments.
 * Introduce a 'force' flag for search_theme_directories() to re-scan, rather than return the cache. We will use this to re-build the theme_roots transient in get_theme_roots(), but it is more helpful for unit tests. Since search_theme_directories() is cached, don't cache again in wp_get_themes(). (Again benefits testing.)
 * Handle duplicate theme names in the old get_themes() when two themes match (and neither are a default theme, which is already handled). wp_get_themes() will consider both names to be the same; this is just for back compat since get_themes() is keyed by name.
 * Include an old array key in wp_broken_themes().

c06576d410 Theme Customizer: First pass for upload controls, using background image as an example. Add a wrapper for Plupload that allows for custom upload UIs. see #19910. 
wp.Uploader is a wrapper that provides a simple way to upload an attachment (using the wp_ajax_upload_attachment handler). It is intentionally decoupled from the UI. When an upload succeeds, it will receive the attachment information (id, url, meta, etc) as a JSON response. If the upload fails, the wrapper handles both WordPress and plupload errors through a single handler.

As todos, we should add drag classes for the uploader dropzone and account for the rough 100mb filesize limit in most browsers. The UI for the customizer upload controls could be improved as well.

ba2a634b7c XMLRPC: Remove the "Backward Compatibility" code from the new api as we don't need to support this older format and it keeps the new api cleaner. 
The new Posts API is designed so that you can fetch a post with get, update the data structure returned and submit that with edit and so we need to ensure to only include in get data in a single form - tags and categories are returned as terms.

2281ba2229 XMLRPC: Intoduce a date generation helper method to improve the dates returned over XMLRPC when we have a 0 date stored for drafts. 
This improves the ability of clients to work with the new wp Post APIs. See #18429 and #19733 props maxcutler.

d3487222d5 In wp_get_themes() under multisite, filter out allowed themes before creating WP_Theme objects, rather than after. search_theme_directories() provides us the stylesheet of each theme which is all we need to do the proper intersection. This results in major performance gains on sites that have large numbers of themes unavailable to them. see #20103.

19b1746cc6 Fetch the raw 'Template' header in the WP_Theme constructor. By passing sanitization routines (which are unnecessary for this header), we prevent a persistent themes cache from sanitizing the headers of every theme until/unless they actually need a real header like Name. Note that if WP_Theme was instantiated through get_themes(), this will have no effect, as get_themes() does ask for Name for the keys to return. see #20103.

08a7de8ab1 Default themes always trump their pretenders. Even though we are no longer keying by name, it is not a good experience to see multiple 'WordPress Default' themes when one was copied and had the directory renamed. This also keeps with the behavior of get_themes() (and the deprecated return value). see #20103. 
Allow a default theme within a directory of wp-content/themes (e.g. 'somedir/twentyeleven') to be identified as a default theme.

282deeec22 Store relative-to-wp-content theme roots, as that is what get_theme_roots() should be receiving. see #20103. 
Since search_theme_directories() now generates this and leverages this as a cache, convert absolute to relative on cache storage, and relative to absolute on cache retrieval.

cc784490da Theme Customizer: Bind the preview iframe load event when triggering refresh instead of when creating the iframe. see #19910. 
The loaded event should only fire when we've actually triggered a refresh. If loaded is bound when the iframe is created, sometimes the blank iframe will fire a 'load' event before a refresh is triggered (this occurred with relative frequency in firefox). By binding the loaded event in the refresh function, we prevent this from occurring.

d130a63e25 Introduce WP_Theme, wp_get_themes(), and wp_get_theme() to replace get_themes(), get_theme(), get_theme_data(), current_theme_info(), and others. 
* Getters and Helpers: Introduces a series of methods to allow for easy generation of headers for display, and other theme metadata, including page templates.
 * Screenshots: Handles support for multiple screenshots. (see # Additional screenshots must be PNG and start with screenshot-2.png, and be sequential to be counted. see #19816.
 * Error Handling: Broken themes have a WP_Error object attached to them.
 * Caching: Introduces a wp_cache_themes_persistently filter (also in [20020]) to enable persistent caching of all filesystem and sanitization operations normally handled by WP_Theme (and formerly get_file_data() and get_themes()). Themes are cached individually and across five different cache keys for different data pieces.
 * Compatibility: A WP_Theme object is backwards compatible with a theme's array formerly returned by get_themes() and get_theme(), and an stdClass object formerly returned by current_theme_info().
 * i18n/L10n: Theme headers are now localizable with proper Text Domain and Domain Path headers, like plugins. (Language packs may remove the requirement for headers.) For page templates, see #6007 (not fixed yet, but will be easy now). For headers, fixes #15858.
 * PHP and CSS files: New methods that fetch a list of theme files (for the theme editor) only on demand, rather than only loading them into memory. fixes #11214.

 * get_themes(), get_allowed_themes() and get_broken_themes() -- use wp_get_themes()
 * get_theme() and current_theme_info() -- use wp_get_theme()
 * get_site_allowed_themes() -- use WP_Theme::get_allowed_on_network()
 * wpmu_get_blog_allowedthemes() -- use WP_theme::get_allowed_on_site()

b367a71d1a Do not save the last visited tab on the multisite Network Themes page and Site Themes tab. These are poor UX, see #18810 for plugins. Entering these screens will always default to 'all' themes view. see #20103.
